COVID-19 LOCKDOWN: 15 Transporters arrested in Kwara State

15 Transporters were arrested in the early hours of Monday. They were arrested as a result of violating the directive given by the state government on the restriction of movement. Mr Kayode Alabi who is the deputy governor of the state and also the chairman of the COVID-19 committee made known that 80 motorcycles were seized from owners who violated the given directive. He also explained that no one should be released until he gives a command concerning that. Mr Kayode Alabi also disclosed that the committee is considering a total shutdown of market but promises that food items will be evenly distributed to help those the shutdown might affect.

Governor Seyi Makinde Tests Positive for COVID-19

The Governor of Oyo STATE, Seyi Makinde revealed this evening via his Twitter handle that his test result for Coronavirus came back positive and he is presently in self-isolation. In his words: I just received my COVID-19 confirmation test result. It is POSITIVE. I am asymptomatic and will continue to self-isolate. According to him, Professor Temitope Alonge has been assigned to head the COVID-19 Task Force while he recovers. This he also made known via his Twitter handle. I have designated Prof Temitope Alonge, former Chief Medical Director of the University College, Ibadan, as the Head of COVID-19 Task Force while I recover fully. Please continue to comply with all the directives from the COVID-19 Task Force. Stay home, stay safe. Wishing him a quick recovery.
